Kick-off campaign
Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino announces the kick-off of the Boston Public Schools Internet safety initiative. The event took place to highlight the new BPS Internet safety website and to announce the creation of the “BPS Cyber Mentors” program which will begin this summer and run in participating high schools next year. Business reporter Jesse Noyes wrote an article about the expected announcement of a donation by Microsoft Corp. to fund the “BPS Cyber Mentor” program for this summer. The program will give 10 Boston Public School students jobs creating educational materials and educating younger students about Internet safety. Click here to read the article.

The BPS Cyber Safety Heroes™ were featured in a Boston Globe article written by technology reporter Hiawatha Bray. The article also included comments by Boston Latin Academy teacher, Leo Carey, whose students created PowerPoint presentation on various Internet safety topics. Click here to read the article.
